What we collect and why

Requests you send us (name, organization, role, email, phone, what you need): to prepare what you asked for and to reply.

Payments are handled by Stripe. We receive your name, email, organization and what you bought, never your card number.

Bank connections, only if you choose to connect, go through Plaid. We read balances and transactions to check eligibility for funding you've asked about, keep a summary, and remove access when you ask or when the work is done. We can't move money.

Documents you sign are handled by our own copy of DocuSeal, run on our server.

Public records. Our research uses public records about organizations (federal awards, disaster declarations, permits, licenses).

Text messages

We text only people who asked us to: by ticking the optional text box on our request form, or by asking us in an email or call. Texts are about your own request or report: replies, appointment confirmations and reminders, and follow-up questions. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. All the above categories exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties.

What we don't do

We don't sell or rent your information, and we don't use it for anything you didn't ask for. We don't use advertising trackers on this site.

Your choices

Ask us to see, correct or delete what we hold about you, or to stop contacting you, and we will.
